Lately I have been hearing a lot about the EdTPA, not only in my education classes but almost everywhere. The teachers in the schools are talking about it, the education students are talking about it, our professors, and many others. So what is EdTPA and why is it making such a splash. It seems like a day can’t go by before someone mentions it and the impact it is making in the educational world. Probably the thing that is striking a chord with most educations majors that are going to be student teaching soon is the differences in the requirements to be licensed. Moving away from the days of portfolios both hard copy and online versions and jumping into Task Stream. Though I see the direct effects to me as a college students, I still am unclear as to how the new EdTPA will change actual teaching. Does it change the way teachers teach? Assess students? Create lesson plans? I’m not sure at this point but I hope to find out soon before I enter the work field.
